Angie, the children’s minister at a church in Missouri, has worked for months to stay connected and offer encouragement to her students. Then, when the summer camp they attend closed for the season, she couldn’t hold back her tears. It was one more loss, and she had to give herself a moment to grieve.
Like Angie, many of us are grieving loss in different forms as we live in these unexpected and strange times. This pandemic has affected all of us and has forced us to make many adjustments. With the delays and cancellations of concerts, camps, and even the Olympics, many of us are shifting our plans to include staycations and barbecues this summer. Churches are also rethinking how best to minister to their communities in this upcoming season.
For GNPI, our summer plans often include the honor of joining you at your VBS. We love partnering with you to share the love of Jesus with younger generations. It's always exciting to see God’s Spirit catch hold of their hearts. GNPI founder Ziden Nutt even felt the call to devote his life to full-time ministry at a summer camp in 1948 at age 11.
It’s obvious this summer will be different. Multiple state and city regulations are making traditional activities, like VBS, challenging. Many churches are making hard decisions to cancel or alter their summer programming. However, as we’re experiencing, with every great challenge comes great opportunity. And we want to help you tackle your programming challenges! By using pre-recorded media content and then broadcasting on Facebook or YouTube, your VBS becomes virtual and can reach children who might never come to a building. GNPI has used this strategy around the world for many years.
We are excited to offer churches some pre-recorded programs like Clay Goes to VBS with live chat options for kids to learn about missions. You can tailor each program to fit your VBS theme with a project GNPI is doing in a specific region of the world. It will be fun for the kids and their families. Take a peek at Clay and Alan "visiting" Plainfield Christian Church in Indiana. You could also have a representative from your church do a "live" zoom call with these two as a personalized wrap-up video. If your church is rethinking VBS 2020, let us help you by providing digital missions content! As a ministry using media and technology to share the Good News since day one, GNPI is here to serve you and cheer you on in making disciples. We will be glad to offer any help we can to make your VBS unique and successful.
