Since the first group of disciples received the Great Commission, believers have been strategizing about ways to share the gospel effectively. We know there’s a harvest, but how do we connect with people who are ready to hear the good news and build relationships with them? In other words, how do we make disciples?
To start that process, we need to meet people where they are. And where they are, is social media. More than 80% of the population is regularly interacting online through platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and SnapChat. People are constantly communicating about a variety of topics. At GNPI, we’ve been developing strategies for turning these conversations into gospel opportunities.
Media to Disciple-Making Movements (M2DMM) have the potential to connect believers with seekers through online conversations. M2DMM offers a set of tools and strategies for making the gospel known in a medium where many are active, but not all are purposeful with interactions. That’s where GNPI can help. We can equip groups and churches to leverage social media platforms for kingdom growth.
When we talk to believers who want to grow in evangelism, we often hear that taking the first step is the hardest part. With M2DMM, there’s a path to follow. We’ve developed proven strategies for evangelism and broken them down into manageable steps that anyone can follow.
Another hurdle is that many believers feel like they are going it alone when it comes to evangelism. With M2DMM, our goal is to build teams of evangelists who facilitate purposeful interactions online. Groups of believers work together for the same purpose and encourage each other along the way.
The process begins with a team or family identifying the people groups they want to reach. They craft social media content that will interest those people and start sharing it online. Using social media technology, they can obtain contact information for those who respond to this content and express interest in further conversations. Team members follow up and build relationships with interested seekers.
Social media + online engagement + personal contact = believers making believers
