Life causes people to ask tough questions.
Is there a God? If there is, what is His nature?
Why is there so much evil in the world?
Why is there evil in me?
What is the purpose of my existence, and how should I live my life?
These kinds of questions nag and prod us to search for the meaning of life. Without answers to life’s tough questions, discontentment, anger, bitterness, hopelessness, depression, and even suicidal thoughts can follow.
Yet, Jesus came to answer our questions about life. Just as he did for the woman at the well in John 4, Jesus offers us living water and opportunities to share our own story with others. Our team at GNPI-Mexico works to help Spanish-speaking people deal with fundamental life questions from a biblical perspective.
The team is producing a new series of short videos, Existential Questions, to lead viewers to God’s word and a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. They are releasing videos on social media, including Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo. GNPI-Mexico will also seek opportunities to share the content at live venues, such as schools, when people are able to gather again.
Our coworker Gustavo writes,
We released our first two videos, ¿EXISTE DIOS? (Does God Exist) and ¿PORQUÉ HAY TANTA MALDAD EN EL MUNDO? (Why is there so much evil in the world?). Many in the audience expressed their points of view and refuted God’s existence, which has opened doors for us to talk to some of them.
One man said that he now understands God exists and wants to change his life. Our goal is to build relationships with people and try to help them with their doubts. By creating music videos, we hope to engage more young people in the Existential Questions series.
We also received several comments from people who say, “I am my own religion and god.” A man in the Dominican Republic has been corresponding with us—please pray for God to work in his life.
The team in Mexico follows up with viewers via social media to encourage local church engagement. They are also creating music videos with a reflection-based message at the end.
Thank you for making it possible for Spanish speakers to ask tough questions and receive biblical answers!
