Oh, What Times We Are Living In!
After reading an email from Mike Schrage, an invitation to the very first International Hour of Prayer (IHOP) that was planned at the GNPI office in Joplin, I thought, “Wow that sounds interesting!” Then I calculated the time from Lamar to Joplin and decided, Hey I CAN be there.
When I arrived it was evident the various staff members, at GNPI, were busy preparing everything to work properly. So how do you coordinate a worldwide. live synchronized prayer meeting with the differences in worldwide time zones, video equipment, laptops, cameras, and microphones?
When walking into the room, I was handed the order of the prayer session: Joplin, Nairobi, Chandigarh, Mexico, Mbale, Damoh, Ukraine, Philippines, SE Asia, Thailand. Then I saw Tom Silkwood from Thailand on the big TV screen at the front of the conference room. Though he was not in Thailand, he was in Illinois helping his staff in Thailand with the technical aspects.
True blessings came when I could see my brothers and sisters from around the world smiling and greeting each other, the sincerity in their prayers for the “other GNPI locations” in the GNPI prayer chain, and the similar technology available to them as here in Joplin. Then it occurred to me that indeed, “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14. What interesting times we live in; we must not tarry.
