God Opened the Door
Timothy P., Regional Director of GNPI-SE Asia
God opened a new door for His Word. Several evangelists went to a minority group, and more than 10,000 people converted to Christianity a few years ago. However, there was not an opportunity to share Christ with the majority group in that area. This majority group has stronger Buddhists than any other group in our region. In the past several years, a few people from this majority group have accepted Christ as their Savior and the one true God.
During the Christmas season I was invited to the area by a Christian man from the majority group by one of the preachers in the capital city. He wanted his people to hear about Jesus. I went to visit this man and joined several other preachers for a Christmas celebration in the village. It was impossible to preach about Christ publically in this area a few years back, but this man blocked the road in front of his house and set up chairs for many people.
About 30 adults gathered to hear the Gospel. The host told me that the chief of police and a few police officers were in the audience. The police chief bought a whole package of soft drinks, but I only had a chance to shake hands with him because he had to leave right away. I also saw a monk listening from the distance. I presented Jesus who came to the earth 2,000 years ago to be with human beings and to save them from sin. I began with the creation of the universe. Then I continued on to the birth of Jesus Christ and how he sacrificed His life to save us from the condemnation of Hell. Everyone listened very quietly.
According to our tradition, I bought a pig and a nice meal was served after the preaching. The monk who had been listening to the Word mingled with the people, but I did not have a chance to meet him personally.
After a few days I received a call from the preacher who told me that the people were touched by two words: Creator and Messiah.
God, the Creator, gave life to humans. God made a human being and breathed life into him. Now they understand that the life they have is from God. They also realized the Messiah, whom they were waiting for, had come and died on the cross to save them from eternal punishment. Two men were baptized a few days after the gathering.
I praise God for hope through Christ, opening doors into new areas, giving His children a burden to share the Good News with others, and the way He transforms lives!
