Project: Solar Kits Region: All Language: NA |
|
| |
Project Cost: $1000 per kit Project Status: In Progress Project Type: Equipment |
| |
| Summary: Solar Kits were designed to take the Gospel where the Gospel is not and where there is no electricity! In desolate villages or in underprivileged schools the Solar Kit draws hundreds of people per showing. Local people can see and hear about the life and teachings of Jesus (some for the very first time) using their local language and customs. |
Technology Enables Outreach
As technology has changed so has the development of the Solar Kits. What began as filmstrip utilization is now video! Today, these compact Solar Kits create smaller audiences. Smaller crowd sizes enable a better evangelist-to-audience ratio and also decrease security concerns. Security is a factor in many places because large crowds can arouse safety concerns.
Media Multiplies Outreach
GNPI has helped place more than 200 Solar Kits in 38 countries. These cases allow missionaries working in places where there is no electricity to reach further, taking their ministry to a new level. Requests for these tools come to GNPI on a regular basis, so there is always a need for more Solar Kits.
Whether it is to share God’s Word with an individual or to a small crowd, Solar Kits allow visualization of the message, they are energy efficient, and easy to transport. What an awesome tool this is, and you have a special opportunity to be a part of this dynamic work! Can you help make a difference by sponsoring one of these Solar Kits?

New Comment Created by Tom N. in 1/6/2012 12:55:33 PM David, We use a 26watt panel with the appropriate charge controller to recharge the batteries in the case. The actual projector that we send out does not have an internal battery, and we have opted not to use the external battery that the manufactures supplies because of the length of time that it lasts. We supply a 5600 mAh battery that will operate the components for around 3.5 hours. It takes approximately 8 hours of sun light to replenish the energy that has been used.

New Comment Created by David in 1/6/2012 8:31:13 AM I was curious to know what the charging capacity is with the solar panels used with these solar kits, and also, how long it takes (roughly) to charge a micro projector? How long will a projector run on it's own internal battery as compared with the other battery that comes in the kit?
