Coach Pao: A Modern-Day Paul

Gayle Silkwood of GNPI-Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Thai media team was surprised they were actually admitted into the Chiang Mai Prison even after all the paperwork and letters had been approved. Other organizations, like CBN, who requested permission to interview this particular prisoner were declined. Coach Pao had been an inmate for the past three years, and his story of conversion and obedience was worth all the red-tape!

Coach Pao has been an avid soccer player all his life and knew many high-profile people in the sports industry. He admits he was self-confident and stubborn, which is what got him into trouble. Money and drugs led him down the wrong path.

In 2003, he was arrested and then released on bail to await his trial. During this time something happened that changed his life forever. He met Jesus Christ. As a new Christian, he became convinced he could help young teens learn discipline and life skills through playing soccer that could also potentially save them from a life of drugs. He established the Christ Football Club (CFC) for underprivileged teens. Ten years passed before his trial for the crime from his previous life. After being sentenced to prison, he saw an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of his fellow inmates. He coached a soccer league, preached at church services, and encouraged others who were also incarcerated.

As for the CFC, another pastor picked up Coach Pao’s work with the young teens continuing to teach them on the soccer field and influence them for Christ.

Recently, after our team had visited him in prison, Coach Pao was granted pardon on the King’s birthday (an annual Thai tradition for well-behaved prisoners). Whether inside the prison walls or outside in the world, Coach Pao knows his calling is to follow Jesus and change lives.

Young Evangelists in Training

Timothy P., Regional Director of GNPI-SE Asia

Our ministry partner traveled to the central part of our region for leadership training with GNPI materials over the summer. Two young people who attended the meeting responded with these testimonies.

may-thwe-oo

I am seventeen and a student in my first year of college. This summer I had the great privilege to attend Bible training. I now have a strong faith in Jesus through the lesson of the true God which the evangelist taught, and I also have a strong commitment to serve in His ministry.

After attending the training, I wanted to stop my college education and go to Bible college instead. I asked permission from my parents. They suggested I finish the secular education first and then go to Bible college. Though I am not studying in Bible college yet, I am sharing about the true God with my friends. As I share the Gospel with them, they also accept Jesus as the true God whom every nation should worship. I will continue to share this Message as much as I can.

kyaw-htet-linI am a 9th grade student. After I pass the matriculation exam, I will go to Bible college and serve the Lord in His ministry. In the past, I had no thought of becoming a minister of the Lord. However, after hearing the lesson of the true God whom every nation must worship, my mind was changed. My faith in God has also increased. In the past, I didn’t think about sharing the Message of God with my friends. I did not know how to explain my faith to them even if I had wanted to talk to them. Now I am talking to my friends and elders, and I try to share about the true God at every opportunity I have.

When I talk about God, some are very interested and some are not. For those who do not want to listen to my Message, I wish they could meet the evangelist who taught me over the summer. When the evangelist came, I asked him more about God. When I told him of my desire to go to Bible college, he affirmed me. I will continue to study and to share about God with new confidence. I would like to acknowledge that I have a strong desire to serve in ministry as the outcome of this training.

Please join us in praying for these young people and others like them as we try to encourage and equip them to make disciples for Christ of the next generation in SE Asia.

Dedicating a New Studio

Timothy P., Regional Director of GNPI-SE Asia

Our team is looking ahead to the ways God will use us in the future. We have dedicated a new studio in the northern part of our region. This outpost will reduce our expenses and supply resources for the tribal people as we produce materials in Rawang and other languages. The first audio projects are the Miracles of Jesus and worship music.

My wife and I felt burdened to do more to share Christ in the area where we grew up. We felt the Lord led us to purchase the land and donate it to the churches, so they could have a studio. Another Christian family made a donation to help us make this facility possible. We were able to move some of our older equipment from our main studio to the new studio.

This new studio, along with the new training center in our capital city, reminds us that God answers our prayers and accomplishes His will to make disciples in SE Asia.

A Stitch in Time

Blessings from Mbale, Uganda! The Lord is growing the ministry here.

This map represents the location of our Solar Kits currently. The requests from evangelists for more Solar Kits are increasing.

The Kampala Church of Christ leadership has expressed interest in our proposal to use their church as a DVD distribution point. This is a good starting place for our plans.

We produced this video to help some ministry partners celebrate the dedication of a new facility.

We are excited to report that all seven episodes of the Life Of Christ (LOC) series is on their vimeo channel as well.

It is our hope to reach more people, far and wide, as we accomplish our mission of accelerating global evangelism through media and technology.

Testimonies from Our Trainings

Timothy P., Regional Director of GNPI-SE Asia

My coworker and I were invited to teach in the eastern part of our region several weeks ago. We had the privilege to share lessons about the True God and other lessons using our GNPI resources.

This is the feedback from one of the pastors.

sy-u-sein-myint-1

Your lesson was very good, and we are encouraged. Your lessons are very clear for those who are not believers as well. For pastors and ministers, every part and section of your lesson is really helpful. As for me, I think the “Illustration of the False Way and the Right Way” will be very effective, and all the other facts are also useful to me.

Your lesson made Buddhism very clear and transparent. We did not teach like this before, but I will use this method from now on. It helps people to understand who is the true or false god, and they can choose what is right and true.

My advice is to teach and train all ministers and evangelists with this lesson as soon as possible.

My coworker also went to the upper middle part of SE Asia. Here is an encouraging testimony about how the Lord is working through his ministry.

I was invited to teach about the Gospel at a youth camp, and God sent many believers and nonbelievers to hear the Message. Seventeen people made decisions for Christ and were baptized.

When the camp was over, I had the privilege to visit four villages and fellowship with the people there who are under God’s leading. I give thanks to God for those villages because in the past there were no believers there. Yet this time I saw many people who believed in God and accepted Jesus Christ. The people from those villages talked about the camp and how they were encouraged. I was so pleased to hear that they will be trying to share the Message with those who don’t know about God yet. They also invited us to come back during the Christmas season to help share the Message in their villages.

The benefit for those attending the training camp is that they have learned things they did not know before. They know now that only Jesus is the true God and the Savior of the world.

I hope and pray for these areas that God will give blessings, bring more people to faith in Him, and have more disciples and workers.

Time to Reflect

Nenette Pacoli, Regional Director of GNPI-Manila, Philippines

The chairman of our board, Pastor Efren Nola, called me recently and said, “I feel like I’ve just been touched by the Lord to share about the ministry of GNPI.” I wanted to set it aside for a little while because I had a few meetings lined up. As a result I had no peace, so I immediately scheduled a time to record his testimony.

Pastor Efren said he is so thankful to the Lord for the privilege of serving GNPI, even though it is a challenge for him!

From a Drug Addict to a Christian Teacher

Our ministry partners at GNPI-Chiang Mai, Thailand, have released a new testimony about a life transformed by the love of Christ.

A Thai man shares how God gave him hope, value, and help in overcoming a drug addiction. He encourages others saying, “Believe me! God can change your life if you will accept Him and submit to Him.”

Seeds Planted

Sergei Golovin, Regional Director of GNPI-Eurasia

The purpose of our ministry is tri-fold: introducing the Truth to skeptics, strengthening the saints’ confidence in the Truth, and equipping God’s people to proclaim God’s Word effectively.

Our resources on creation evangelism and the biblical foundations for civil society are in high demand.

More and more schools and churches are also asking for resources on logical thinking. Teaching Bible and logics courses at the Joint School of Christian Apologetics caused a ripple effect, and we have scheduled several more opportunities to teach and train. The course at Ukrainian Evangelical Seminary served church leaders from Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus. Please join us in praying for the seeds planted.

Seminars for a student club have also prepared the soil. It was very exciting! There were three days of seminars on science, Bible, and creation evangelism attended by leaders from the region, as well as those from the city of Ternopil. We did not have any network presence there before this seminar.

Another exciting project is the Daniel School. Its purpose is to train select teenagers to be church and society leaders. The program includes studies of Scripture, apologetics, logic, rhetoric, sports, camping, hiking, rafting, and teamwork. We are going to provide academic content for this program. All the sessions are broadcast online.

I was especially touched by the young people who followed us online from the war zone. A group of seven even followed us online from a basement in one the hottest spots of our country’s confrontation. They were listening to both the Creation Evangelism seminar and shell bursts. May the Lord keep them safe and protected! Please pray for this great project and for these devoted young people. They are the future of the Church and the nation.

The Lord is opening a lot of opportunities in Ukraine to impact believers and prepare them to always give an answer about the reason for our hope. These baptism pictures were taken near Kiev.
