Prayers & Praises

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” — Titus 3:4-5

“I Want God to Use This!”
Communications Coordinator Marsha Bacon is undergoing surgery on April 16 for colon cancer. She is trusting in God’s plan and promises. Marsha says, “I want God to use this!” In addition, Karolyn Schrage, wife of Executive Director Mike Schrage, is having neck surgery on April 17. Please join our staff in praying for great peace and full recovery for Marsha and Karolyn.

Solar Kits Going Out From Mbale!
Jesca of GNPI-Uganda shares, “We received a new list of people who are willing to be coordinators for the Solar Kits. Our coworker, Stephen, trained them a couple weeks ago. The coordinators will start taking the Solar Kits starting this week. Please pray for hearts to be open to receive the Gospel.”

“Thirsty for the Truth!”
Sergei Golovin of GNPI-Ukraine says, “While a lot is uncertain yet, we do not neglect any opportunity to serve. It was a special blessing for me to attend a conference on seeking God’s will in times of trouble with a group of young Christian professionals. What great encouragement it is to see young people passionate for spreading the truth of God in the midst of the storms of life! The fields are white. Troubles in the world make people look for the hope beyond it. In addition, I have spoken at the Christian Youth Club recently. There are a lot of questions to which only God can provide answers! People are thirsty for the truth, and God uses the situation powerfully. We definitely have work to do here. Please pray with us for the Lord’s vision and guidance during this transformation period.”

New Project in Pachuca!
NOMaD Coordinator Jason Miller reports, “Sergio’s team in Pachuca, Mexico, is working on a project on the harmful effects of pornography that they hope to share at a big concert. Pray that they can get the project completed in time and that it can make a big impact at that event.”

“Ready With Easter Programming!”
Manee Massey of GNPI-Damoh, India, says, “We are ready with Easter programming. We have used visuals from The Global Gospel and a message by Dr. Ajai Lall. It will be broadcast on a national television station near Easter to approximately 60-70 million people.” Praise God for this great outreach opportunity!

Water Flows

I was blessed with the opportunity to tour the Holy Land last year. One of the things that struck me was the importance of water in the country of Israel. In King Hezekiah’s day he designed a tunnel to divert water to his city. Today, drip irrigation is a trademark of farmers in Israel because of the scarcity of water. Water sustains life in a walled fortress and brings life to a desert land.

We all know that water is vital, but another thing about water is that it flows.

Water Flows Color

Think about it. Pour water on an inclined table and it will run off the edge. Pour water on a sidewalk and it will follow the cracks. Pour water in a muffin pan; it fills one hole and then seeks another hole until all the holes are filled and overflowing.

Jesus said He is the Living Water! He sustains us like a walled city drinks from a diverted stream. He brings life to our lives like drip irrigation in a desert.

This isn’t a new thought to me, but when I related flowing water to Jesus, THIS was new to me!

You see, Jesus as “Living Water”’ naturally flows to the edges of society. He naturally flows to the people who are cracked and hurting. He flows to the dark places, the uninviting holes in society, if you will. He leans toward those who are inclined and are leaning, struggling to stand.

Yes, Jesus is the Living Water and He wants to flow to the poor, the marginalized, the socially inept, the places that lack justice, and the sin-ravaged areas of humanity. More importantly, He wants us to flow into those areas, bringing life to others!

But most importantly, because Jesus is love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace, He will flow to those areas: the widowed and orphaned in our neighborhoods, the abused and forgotten in our society, whether we go or not! He’d love to use us and have us on the journey, but nothing will stop Him because water just flows. Just as we cannot stop water from flowing down an incline, following a crack, or filling a hole, we cannot stop Jesus from going to the least of these.

How about me? Where am I flowing?

We here at GNPI consider you family – that is why I’ve invited you into my living room to share with you the growing vision of GNPI. This is God’s ministry, and he is taking us to exciting, and sometimes scary places. We have strapped ourselves in and we are hanging on. You know the saying, “It takes a village?” Well, that is really talking about raising a child – but you could use that same phrase to describe what it takes to move this ministry forward. We are truly thankful for the partnership you’ve entrusted us with.

Here’s the last installment of the GNPI Living Room Sessions. Thanks for hanging out with me and listening.

Planting Seeds in Taiwan

Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord; exalt the name of the Lord,
the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. (Isaiah 24:15 NIV)

I recently had the great honor to travel to Taichung, Taiwan, to use my passion for video and photography to help train the missionary team in different aspects of video production. The team (Chad Edwards, Jon Ralls, and Allen Messimer of Team Expansion) have been using video in their ministry outreach and have been given a couple of huge possibilities for outreach using media. Because of that they want to focus on improving their productions. With help from a supporting church they were able to purchase new equipment and are eager to learn.

Once arriving in Taiwan, I hit the ground running, as they had many things on their agenda to accomplish while I was there. We dove right in on finalizing their first script in a new video series called Questions. This is a six-part series that will address some serious life questions that we sometimes won’t stop to ask. Once we ironed out the script, we were ready to begin filming and do on-location training with their new equipment. As we filmed, it was very exciting to hear the possibilities and potential that this new video project has along with another video series, Discovery English Studio.

Discovery English Studios, is a series that the team has already been producing. They have been invited into the local public schools to teach English and reinforce it with videos. They have been given the opportunity to use their own material in the videos. The videos focus on character development using Biblical parables and Old Testament stories. Currently, they are involved in 3 English clubs on 3 different school campuses. And, with a partnership with HTC these Discovery English videos are accessed by 50,000 high school student through HTC tablets.

Both videos series have been requested to be a part of the newest fastest growing network in Taiwan, It will be amazing to see what God will do with these videos as they have a potential of planting seeds in the heart of 23 million people in Taiwan.

Celebrating Your Impact

We’re standing in awe of what God has done in response to recent Vision Night events. Hundreds of GNPI friends and supporters gathered at our venues in Joplin, Indianapolis, and Phoenix.

They saw up close our new look and branding changes, heard highlights of our new strategic plan, and experienced our work in India through the eyes of GNPI-Damoh, India’s regional director, Manee Massey. And, in a wonderful show of generosity, those in attendance at all three events donated or pledged a total of $150,000 to help us progress more rapidly toward the accomplishment of our ambitious plans.

For those of you who came and saw first-hand the people, plans, and potential for sharing Christ with the world through media and technology, we thank you and celebrate the impact you made.

If you weren’t able to attend, we are producing a four-part series of short videos called GNPI Living Room Sessions. Executive Director Mike Schrage invites you into his living room to share some of what we unveiled at Vision Night.

GNPI Living Room Sessions Part 1 and GNPI Living Room Sessions Part 2 are available now.

Watch for two more this month in our weekly e-communication or check back next Monday and Thursday (April 7th and 10th.)

Scripture makes it clear that nothing good comes without vision. Thank you for joining us to catch the vision for the future of GNPI!

Prayers & Praises

“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” — Psalm 33:11

A Line of People Waiting to Get Baptized!
Simmi Dhingra of GNPI-Chandigarh, India, writes, “Mr. I, a convert from Islam, shared his experience of how the Solar Kit enhanced the understanding and learning ability of his audience in the slum areas of K and B, where most of the people are uneducated. His members were from a Hindu background. His regular members who attended church every Sunday were 70 in total. As a result of the Gospel message shared through the Solar Kits, there is now a line of people waiting to get baptized.”

A New Release!
Gustavo Velázquez of GNPI-Mexico says, “Next week the short film Raziel’s Story will be shown and distributed.” The film is a testimony of the way God can redeem and transform the life of a down-and-out addict. Raziel’s powerful testimony demonstrates the dangers, attitudes, circumstances, and consequences of such a life. Please pray that God will draw young people to this event, so they can see the lasting hope that Christ offers.

An Answered Prayer!
Director of Operations Tom Nutt had a chance to demonstrate the Solar Kit to a group of people in SE Asia. One man who works in the northern villages became very excited about this tool. He said, “Today, you’ve answered my prayer. My dream is to share Christ with my village. For all these years, I have been looking for a way to get into the northern villages where I grew up. I believe this is the tool that will make that possible.” Please pray that God will make himself known and work in the lives of the people in these northern villages.

Never in My Wildest Dreams!
Nenette Pacoli of GNPI-Philippines shares, “I never in my wildest dreams thought that we would be showing WWJD programs to ‘captive audiences’ in schools, colleges, and youth groups. On TV, we just rely on ratings and hope that people get the message, but now the Lord has given us front row seats on how he changes lives through our materials! At the university, I saw understanding in the students’ faces as they watched Purity. It was almost like they had been liberated! We thank God for opening these new doors for us. We hope to continue to go to colleges, schools, and churches to offer our materials for their use.”

“A realistic way of getting the Word of God into their hands.”
Eddie, a Christian worker in South Sudan writes, “Even in the poorest places, you can normally find that many people have or share cell phones. People go to shops to load music onto their SD cards in their phones and pass it along using Bluetooth. Recently our team has loaded audio Bibles, Walking with Jesus films, GNPI films, and The Jesus Film in different languages onto SD cards in about 6 of the local languages, and there has been a great response! Money exchangers, police officers, border officials, teenagers, shopkeepers, taxi drivers, neighbors, and more have all been excited to receive the Word! Many have come back for more once they have listened to it and shared it! With an overall literacy rate of 27 percent, this audio form is a realistic way of getting the Word of God into their hands.”

In the world today, how do we reach out to people of Islam, Hinduism, or Buddhism? GNPI has regional centers and NOMaD teams located in strategic regions of the world. But when we look at the numbers of people who follow these religions, we need to do more!

1.6 Billion Muslims
1 Billion Hindus
½ Billion Buddhists

GNPI will have an App for that!

There is much hope knowing that from rice fields, to urban cities, to slums, God cannot be contained. He will always make a way for his children. Here are a few photos of the different places that God has used GNPI to reach.

Prayers & Praises

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10

Entering Hard Times!
Sergei Golovin of GNPI-Ukraine shares, “We need God’s peace in this troubled world and his guidance in the constantly changing situation. We trust in him and have to be wise enough to be ready for any upcoming change. After 20 plus years with Jesus, we just started to learn to live according to his Word in Matthew 6:34, ‘Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.’ ”

Isaac Masiga of GNPI-Kenya says, “We are yet to start The Global Gospel in Swahili because of the delay from Biblica in sending us the right text. Pray with us for a faster solution to this issue.”

Ready to Begin!
David Lall of GNPI-Damoh, India, shares, “We are ready to begin work on The Global Gospel in Bhojpuri. It is the language spoken by 40 million people. It is one of the national languages of Nepal, Guyana, Fiji, and Suriname. The strange thing about Bhojpuri is that it is not only spoken in two states in India but also in many Caribbean islands. This language is so popular that many movies in Bollywood are made in Bhojpuri.”

“Praying That Christ Shows Through Us!”
Jeff Silkwood of GNPI-Thailand shares, “We are starting to get more comfortable with the culture of Thailand. We are blessed by all the prayers and encouragement from our family and friends. We are so thankful for the Lord and the comfort he has given our family. We pray that we are a light in this dark world. We pray that Christ is shown through us and that we can help more people come to know Jesus as Savior.” Jeff is the son of Regional Director Tom Silkwood. Jeff will serve as communication coordinator in Chiang Mai as well as being involved in Solar Kit assembly and distribution.

 A New Sister in Christ!
TP of GNPI-SE Asia shares the following testimony of how God is working through the materials produced in SE Asia to strengthen churches and transform lives. Mrs. D says, “The evangelist taught me from the little book called A Handbook for Evangelism. He showed me Scriptures and read them to me. Now I understand that the Church was established by Jesus. He bought it by his blood. I accepted Jesus as my Savior and was baptized. Now I am happy to know that Jesus is the only Savior and the only way to go to heaven. I feel like a new person.”
