A Tip for Short-Term Mission Trips

A tip for short-term mission trips: Don’t leave home without a mobile phone.
Did you know today there are more people who own a mobile phone than a toothbrush? Mobile phone subscriptions are now close to 7 billion and rising. Mobile devices are changing people’s lives in every corner of the world and provide a great opportunity to share the Gospel with every person on the planet.
In the past, we were often discouraged from using our phones on short-term mission trips. The phones could become a distraction from the work we were trying to accomplish. Today, we should encourage all teams going on a short-term mission trip to consider bringing their phones as a tool to reach out to the people they will meet. With the prevalence of mobile phones, it is now possible in many parts of the world to give someone an audio Bible in their heart language. We can share the Jesus Film or other Gospel material from any one of multiple languages. Not only can we show them this material on our phones, we can also leave a copy with them to share it with others after we are gone. There is the potential of eventually reaching hundreds or even thousands. What a great way to accelerate and multiply God’s Word!

As you pack your bags for that next mission trip, don’t leave home without first downloading Gospel material to your mobile phone, so you can share it with your hosts and others you meet.
