Surrounded by dirty, yet bright-eyed children, you might assume that these children are innocent, little ones playing in the street because of a lack of supervision. The truth is that more than one million children live on the streets in the Philippines. Some sell cigarettes or snacks. Often they set up shop outside a tavern where drunken men sexually exploit the little girls.

We are receiving some encouraging responses from viewers of the Asin at Ilaw program. One of the ministers at a local church in Manila said that he "likes the lessons and issues being tackled. The dramas are swak na swak [hit the bull's eye] to the lesson that we are discussing. The situations presented are so Pinoy na Pinoy [really, really Filipino], and they would make good sermons.
