Old Technology with a New Use
By Tom Nutt on

Several months back I had visited with a gentleman on the East Coast about a work that they had going on in Haiti. He was calling to see if we had any material that had been produced in the Creole language. I was sad to have to inform him that we only have a few items available in Creole, which were filmstrips with accompanying audiotapes that had been produced over 20 years ago. As technology has changed so have the methods and tools that we use to communicate the message. We had several copies of the filmstrips still on hand but I was having no luck finding the filter projector needed to show them.

Solar Media Cases Open Doors
By GNPI on

Do you know about the Solar Media Cases that GNPI builds and supplies to Christian workers? It’s basically a media player (DVD) that runs on the power of the sun. They are opening doors for missionaries to show Christian dramas and training videos in places where there is no electricity. These tools attract attention wherever they go, and the missionary then points people to the Savior! Listen as Mike Schrage shares more about the impact they are making.

Hearing and Understanding
By GNPI on

When Jesus came to earth, He put on flesh and immersed Himself in the culture of the people. He told stories to illustrate the truth about His heavenly Father using people in situations that were culturally familiar to the people He spent time with. Mike Schrage was a missionary in Africa for 20 years and understands firsthand how important cultural relevance is in reaching lost people. In this short video Mike talks about one of the foundational stones of the ministry of GNPI—making sure that people hear and understand the message of a loving Savior to people in the context of their own culture.

To the moon and back; anything is possible!
By Bob Sartoris on

On the 20th of this month, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing.  I won’t admit exactly how old I was when that happened, but suffice it to say I do remember watching it live on our family’s black and white console TV.  At the time, it seemed nearly impossible that we were down here on earth watching it live from around 238,000 miles away.  That one single event, more than anything I’ve experienced since, planted in my mind the idea that when it comes to human ingenuity and determination, anything is possible!

Redeeming the Time
By Mike Schrage on

“Redeeming the time.” That phrase in the King James Version of Paul’s letters to the Ephesians (5:16) and Colossians (4:5) became incredibly clear to me this week in East Africa. Marty McFarland was a spunky missionary and working mother in Arusha, Tanzania. Her passion to tell people about Jesus was contagious. She and her husband Steve were “second termers” going to the mission field as second career people. They wanted to empower nationals with tools to enable them to make the most of the time. The McFarlands had been in Tanzania since 2000.

Miracles, White Skin, and . . .
By Mike Schrage on

“Jesus did miracles and people noticed him. You have white skin, so people noticed the white missionary. Now, I have this solar media case!” With those words, the Tanzanian evangelist helped me understand the power I was placing in his hands as I handed him the case.
