Wildflowers and Dancing Children

During my recent visit to GNPI’s regional center in Ukraine, Sergei Golovin, our regional director, told me about a children’s Christmas musical that his team was preparing to videotape. I added it to my list of ‘future projects’ and moved on to a discussion of other projects they were considering. The truth is, a Christmas musical for children didn’t really sound too exciting to me, especially when compared to some of the other teaching materials they had on the agenda.

From Chaos to Calm

Every year at Christmas, it seems like a different aspect of the Christmas story leaps out at me like I’m hearing it for the very first time. It happened this year as I have practiced our choir’s Christmas music. The songs build in emotion, and the ending of many of them is very grand and “big.” As the songs build in intensity, so do my emotions for the story I’m singing about—the Good News I’m telling!
