Dusty School And Orphans

I sat in the doorless school with three missionary colleagues and 25 “kids”. It was a reunion of the parentless. Actually they were adults now with babies on their laps, married and most with jobs. These were the kids of the Children’s Home in Kitale, an orphanage that was started in 1992 by my former mission team. Today, I sat in awe as I saw before my eyes transformation. Snotty kids were now leading in worship, little girls were now nursing mothers and bratty boys were now men of vision.

Wildflowers and Dancing Children

During my recent visit to GNPI’s regional center in Ukraine, Sergei Golovin, our regional director, told me about a children’s Christmas musical that his team was preparing to videotape. I added it to my list of ‘future projects’ and moved on to a discussion of other projects they were considering. The truth is, a Christmas musical for children didn’t really sound too exciting to me, especially when compared to some of the other teaching materials they had on the agenda.

A Billion are Hungry—What Should We Do?

I read recently that the number of people going hungry everyday has reached one billion for the first time in history. (Click for full story.) What is a billion of anything? One person put it this way – if you could feed a thousand people a day, 365 days a year, it would take you 2,740 YEARS to feed a billion hungry people! And that’s just to give them one meal!

Bible Club Turns Into Bible School!

In addition to helping at the GNPI studios in Kenya, Regional Director Prince Makaya’s wife Chipo has an emerging ministry of her own. She goes to a number of elementary schools once a week to lead three to six-year-olds in a time of music, Bible study, storytelling, and memorizing verses. She has been using the Bible Club episodes in her time with the children. Prince shared the following:
